ROC Military Draft part 1
October 30th, 2008
An outbreak of an event that lasted 2.5 months...
On the day of October 30th, 2008,
my company notified me that my working permit got approved
BUT my Resident Visa got denied. I was shocked!! The cause
of the Visa deny was because I hold dual citizenship and facing military draft in Taiwan until the age of 37 and
now the newly established Immigration Office of Taiwan says
I have 24 hours to think for my future in Taiwan.
Option 1: Fly out to anywhere before my current Visa expires in 24 hours and do not return to Taiwan until the age of 37.
Option 2: Stay in Taiwan and face military draft as a Taiwanese national holding USA passport and go through months of pushing paperworks to revert me as NOT USA national entering the ROC Army.
Option 3: Similar to option 2 but fly to anywhere and re-entering Taiwan using TW passport and just go through the paperwork process of military draft.
On October 31st, I picked option 3, flew to HK and stayed at the airport for a night then fly back the next day entering the island as Taiwanese national.
On the freeway heading to the airport at noon

cellphone battery almost dead, bought a charger at the airport and later found out I CAN'T USE IT AT HK AIRPORT.............. DIFFERENT VOLTAGE.... T_T

Arrived HK airport in the afternoon, entering communist zone...
Airport subway entrance and Terminal 2 entrance (mainland flights and buses)

Sleeping time.... no flights after 12am

I arrived Taiwan at noon on Nov 1st 2008, entering the country as a Taiwanese national, thus begins the long and dreadful days of military draft process. Part 2 coming up soon...
Update on 叢發性頭痛/Cluster Headache
Some updates on the cluster headache since I haven't had an attack
since Sept.
I am very grateful to all my friends and family in support and prayers for me during this time. Since my MRI result, I have been
in awe about that little white spot in my brain, but rest assure now that I am in good condition, only gain some weight from the side-effect from the steroid I took to control the attack.
here's a photo of my brain's MRI
that white spot on the upper left corner is the result of smoking in the past, for lack of oxygen going into my brain.
Hopefully for 2009, it will not occur again :D
