Then came a stray cat, looks thin and hungry....

Codeine / 可待因

Many many years ago, around 8~9 years ago. I had a very severer headache and stomach pain and went to see the doctor in Seattle.
It's NOW that I look back and felt I am so glad I didn't finish the treatment... because the doctor gave me Codeine/可待因 as the first round of pain relieve medicine....

I wonder what I would become if I finish the treatment.... a druggie? Or all fixed up and no more pain for the past 8~9 years?

I don't know, but I want to fix my headache now..... I can't sleep every night.....

可待因
口服（最常用）、皮下注射、肌肉注射

'可待因'（Codeine），化學式為C18H21NO3，是一種鴉片類藥物（opioid），有止痛、止咳和止瀉的藥效，它的硫酸鹽或磷酸鹽常用於藥品中。

可待因是一種存在於鴉片中的生物鹼，含量約佔0.7-2.5%。它可從鴉片中提取，也可用化學方法自嗎啡製造。

受管制物質

可待因是麻醉品单一公约下的列表II藥物，在世界各地受到嚴格管制。很多國家和地區容許民眾不需醫生處方而購買若干含可待因的藥品，例如咳藥水，但那些藥品的可待因含量較低，而每次售賣的數量亦通常有限制，甚至賣方需要登記購買者的個人資料。

藥物動力學

可待因進入人體後，約有10%的吸收份量在體內經代謝作用轉化成嗎啡。由於不是所有進入體內的可待因能轉成嗎啡，所以可待因的藥效較嗎啡弱，其成癮性亦較嗎啡少。

叢發性頭痛

叢發性頭痛也被稱為「自殺性頭痛」，是最叫人「頭痛」的一種類型，患者平均要八年多的時間，才會被正確診斷出病因。醫師指出，「預防治療」比「急性治療」更為重要，平時更要遠離喝酒、登山等誘發因子，才能避免發作。

「頭痛要人命」不全然言過其實。一種「叢發性頭痛」症狀劇烈，是各類頭痛之最，早年甚至有人痛到自殺身亡。若以國外千分之三盛行率推估，台灣約有六萬名患者，但台灣一項最新調查發現，此症錯誤診斷率極高，平均八年才找出病因。

台灣台北榮民總醫院神經內科醫師王署君表示，叢發性頭痛有「自殺性頭痛」之稱，是所有頭痛類型中，症狀最劇烈的一種。根據台北榮總與台南新樓醫院一項最新調查研究顯示，患者要被正確診斷出病因，平均竟要八年又一個多月之久。

該研究將被刊登在國際知名「頭痛」醫學期刊，研究者之一的王署君表示，叢發性頭痛的症狀十分獨特，只要看過就很難忘記，但因常被忽略，診斷過此病的醫師並不多，神經科醫師如此，更別說其他專科，也因此患者經常一再被誤診，最常被誤認為偏頭痛，不少人做了不必要的電腦斷層或核磁共振檢查，甚至鼻竇或鼻中隔手術，當然是毫無幫助。

叢發性頭痛發作時極為痛苦。榮總一位男性內科醫師也是患者之一，他在二十歲那年冬至首度發病，發作時頭痛欲裂、半邊臉部潮紅、單眼淚流不止、倒地呻吟，有時甚至嘔吐到幾乎昏厥。
此後每年都會在固定月份發作，每天一到兩個小時之久，期間長達一個月。在手術檯上、急救病人時也曾幾度發作，讓他生活、工作受到極大困擾，不過在不發病的月份，卻完全沒有頭痛。
王署君指出，這類疼痛非常劇烈，有些人一天發作甚至達八次之多，且在固定時間發作，如早晨或入睡後一、二小時。絕大多數以單邊為主，最常發生於單側眼窩後面，有時在眼窩上方或同側的太陽穴，有病人形容發作時眼睛痛如刀割。

由於此症病灶可能在腦部下視丘，因此患者亦常伴隨自主神經症狀，包括眼睛紅、單眼流淚、流鼻水、臉部冒汗、瞳孔收縮、眼皮下垂、臉部腫脹等。部份患者會坐立不安，甚至會走來走去，成為獨特的症狀之一。
而研究也發現，叢發性頭痛的發作可能與日照時數有關，王署君指出，叢發性頭痛最常發生在季節變換時，又以十二月與三月最多，因而近來門診患者有明顯增加趨勢，不過一問之下，患者大多早就罹患頭痛多年，卻始終找不出正確病因，因而不斷輾轉求醫。
此外，不同於其他類型的頭痛，叢發性頭痛發生以男性居多，台灣患者男女比例是六比一，調查中發現，吸菸可能是重要因素，患者中男性有七成九、女性有三成六曾經或正在吸菸，女性病患有逐年增加趨勢，可能與女性吸菸人口增加有關。

王署君表示，叢發性頭痛雖然疼痛難忍，但只要尋求神經科醫師協助，並不難診斷，且大多能有效治療。
頭痛發作時的「急性治療」可用純氧、麥角胺、英明格等藥物，不過發作前的「預防治療」更為重要，至少要持續服藥至頭痛症狀完全消失兩週以上才逐漸減藥，可用的藥物包括類固醇、鈣離子阻斷劑、鋰鹽等，副作用少，且多半在一週內就能見效。

此外，在發作期宜避免喝酒、飛行與登山等一些誘發因子，頭痛才不會突然降臨。

CentOS 5.1 遠端管理： VNC

CentOS 這種 sever 作業系統免不了要採用遠端管理，雖然 command line 都可以處理，但是利用越來越成熟管理 GUI 絕對可以提昇效率。
預設安裝的 XWindow、KDE、Gnome 再加上 XWindow client 就可以建置一個完整的遠端管理環境，最近安裝的流程如下：

一設定 VNC

步驟一：以 root 身份修改 /etc/sysconfig/vncservers 加入以下這行設定

VNCSERVERS=”1:”

** 1 是 display number，如果有多人使用 VNC 每個人都要有 unique 的 display number

步驟二：設定個人環境

以個人帳號登入後執行 vncpasswd 設定 VNC 連線認證密碼，這時候個人目錄下會自動產生一個 .vnc目錄，在這個目錄下建立一個 xstartup script，內容如下

完成以上步驟，現在可以用 VNC client 登入 server 了。

Everyone knows I am from Seattle but....
where do I put myself at?
I was born in the suburb of Taipei, raised in the Northwest
of America, gained my street knowledge from the Central District,
earned my formal diploma on the East Side. Now I reside in the suburb of
Taipei, work near the future Department of Defense, a perfect missile target,
and I am single. My name is David Mao from the Mao family, descent of John Mao.

Yes, I know this is a long description, kinda like the Lord of the Ring character introduction..... XD

Anyway.... I went to check out my old high school at night and while passing the old time favorite luncheon place we used to go to during lunch hours, I saw something that reminded me of what was it like studying at Garfield.

Those who likes to watch CSI or NYPD will have a pretty good idea what the yellow tag, flowers, and candles are for... Someone or many people got killed on that spot recently. I checked the newspaper, just a few days before my arrival in Seattle, the store owner got killed by some whacko storming in the store and started shooting. The same whacko killed his girlfriend earlier that day. Also the co-owner was killed in mid-2007 and that case was remained unsolve. It's really ironic, especially for me who studied at a high school 2 blocks away from '94~'97. During my time there, there are average of two major drive-byes, major meaning someone or many got killed, and multiple physical and sexual assault just within 5 blocks radius of the school. After I graduated, I went back and visited a few times and I was under the impression that the neighborhood had changed, because more and more upscale houses are being built and many of the Capital Hill resident had moved in from their costly neighborhood. I guess things don't really change even after 10 years.

Of course there are many famous alumni from this High School.

What have I become in the past ten years?
I become more soft, less hot-headed, and more fat..... XD
Those who went to high school with me will never recognize me both physically and
personality. One, I gained 20KG since high school and I have become a person with softer heart and less aggressiveness towards things that didn't go my way.
I don't confront people as much, nor do I harm people in unnecessary ways.
I guess that's a good change, but still I want to loose that 20KG.....

Seattle Trip~ (teaser)

I went back to Seattle from Jan. 31 to Feb 10th during the Chinese New Year Holidays.

It's a different year compare to the previous trips I made.
This year, mom sold the restaurant so I don't have to run around for restaurant
stuff... and supposedly I should only be helping 1 of Doris's friends.
Of course, plan changes so I had a slightly different plan change since my arrive in Seattle.....

I will detail them in the later post, here are some photos I took during this trip.

A---光圈優先.我們自己選擇一個光圈值.機身會自動配合快門速度.可以讓你自己控制需要的景深.

S---快門優先.自己選擇一個需要的快門速度.機身會自動配合光圈.也是為了可以達到自己的要求(例如要拍運動.速度要快一點).

M---全手動.光圈和快門速度都由自己控制.機身不管曝光是否正確.可以依自己的想法去曝光.

MF---代表手動對焦.有時候(尤其是拍微距.就是小東西).因為景深很淺.所以需要手動對焦.才能找到適合的焦點.

AF---自動對焦.由機身去自動對焦.你只要選擇你要的對焦點.機身會自動對焦.

小花---指的就是微距.拍近的東西時候需要用到.不選擇的話.相機無法對到這麼近的距離.

then came camera......
when I was in High School, I had to take elective classes...
The classes I took were all involved with graphics...
Print Shop, halftone printing, dealing with films and silk screen printings...
and school's newspaper....
Photography, black and white photography.... for this class, I used an Minolta MAXXUM 7000, which was big and bulky...... but it made a remarkable history in AF SLR!
I will try to fix it this time when I bring it back to Taiwan..... It's got some kind of corrision from my trip to Pun-Ho in the 90s.... XD
